Michelle Segar is a motivation scientist and author of critically acclaimed “No Sweat! How the Simple Science of Motivation Can Bring You a Lifetime of Fitness”. When it comes to activity trackers we should be designing algorithms based on the core science of motivation and decision making – rather than just numbers and the future will do this. We will see activity trackers progress from ticks & numbers to feelings and enjoyment.
It is up to the fitness and health industry to help people understand that when they take better care of themselves through physical activity, they will start learning the benefits of, and developing the skill set for prioritising self care behaviour.
